DAV Observes Vigilance Awareness Week
D.A.V. Public School, Patiala observed Vigilance Awareness Week in collaboration with State Bank of Patiala. Every year there is a theme which enthuse in general public the feeling of transparency and efficiency. This year the theme of the week is “Combating Corruption-Technology as an enabler”. It is not surprising that this year this week is dedicated to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel popularly known as the iron man. He not only united the princely states but also the hearts and minds of people. Various activities were organized at the school’s premises such as essay writing, motivational lecture and debate competition etc. Mr. Prem Kumar Chophla, Chief Vigilance Officer, SBOP graced the occasion as chief guest.
In his welcome address Sh. S. R. Prabhakar motivated the students to become vigilant and contribute their bit to make India as India of our dreams. He added that the students are the soldiers of pen but they can raise their voice to eradicate corruption.
Mr. Prem Kumar Chophla said that corruption is of two types – collusive and coercive. Technology can help in curbing the evil of coercive corruption which we face in our day to day life.
The topic for the debate was “Combating Corruption-Technology as an enabler” Isha, Saptampreet, Richa, Harsh, Eliza, Anuragdeep, Garima, Ayrish and Ankita of XI_XII participated. Ayrish in her speech highlighted how CCTVs can help in keeping a check on corruption, whereas Harsh objected and said that CCTVs put an unnecessary burden on workers and their efficiency decreases. Saptampreet favoured the softwares that make the work easy and fast whereas Ankita said that hackers can crack all the softwares.
An essay writing competition was also organized for the classes IX & X in which about 500 students participated and put forth their views. Shivam Gupta of IX E was placed first, Jayati Gumber of IX C bagged second position and Shantanu Aggarwal of IX E got third prize whereas Parveen kaur and Akanksha Aggarwal from XB and XC got consolation prizes
Ayrish and Ankita of XII Commerce were declared as winners and Anuragdeep of XI Medical bagged 2nd position in debate competition. The efforts of the participants were appreciated by the Principal.
