To aware the students about the need to vote and adopting right means to vote, an awareness programme initiated by SVEEP – Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral participation Program was held at DAV, Patiala. The programme commenced with singing of National Anthem.
Principal S R Prabhakar motivated the students to vote and choose the right candidate as it gives citizens a voice in the government and say in the issues of national importance. The decision of voters in the biggest democracy like India will have far reaching consequences.
Thereafter Geeta Sharma, on behalf of Nodal Officer while addressing the students highlighted the need of casting the vote. She said that the youth plays a vital role in choosing the right candidate. Many people in some other countries do not have this right and they die fighting for their rights, so we people should feel privileged that we live in democracy that gives us this right.
A pledge was administered by the principal to the staff and the students that ‘We the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and every election fearlessly and without any influenced by consideration of religion race, caste, community, language or any inducement.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the Nodal Officer.
