“Aids is a dreadful disease and its eradication from the society is demand of the time”these were the words of Principal S. R. Prabhakar DAV Public School, Patiala while observing‘World AIDS Day’ in its premises.
With the motive to educate young students regarding this deadly disease various activities were conducted. Clinical Educator, Ms. Diljot Kaur alongwith her team from Columbia Asia Hospital, Patiala while addressing almost 250 students of class X highlighted the factors responsible for spreading AIDS that included – Usage of Infected Needles, Infected Blood Transfusion, Unsafe Physical Relationship. In addition to it she also suggested number of precautionary measures and latest advancement in treating it. A special Morning Assembly was also conducted during which Dr. Sonia, Medical Officer threw light on this treacherous disease and awared as many as 500 gathering of students and the teachers. Later on she also acquainted the students through a Power point Presentation about its harmful effects. A Poster Making Competition was also organized for classes VIII to X. To mark the support to the patients of AIDS, students of class X wore Red Ribbon Badges and left everybody with the empathy for them.
Principal Prabhakar while addressing the students appealed to them to come forward to be the ambassadors of the AIDS campaign and spread the awareness about the preventive measures. Ms. Diljot Kaur was honoured by the principal. Mrs. Upasana Madaan, PGT Biology presented a short poem regarding AIDS and also gave a Vote of Thanks.
