To promote the cause of inclusive education and give a platform for educators to discuss and share insights, a transformative two-day Capacity Building Programme was successfully held on 21 August 2023- 22 August 2023 at DAV Public School Patiala under the aegis of CBSE, Centre of excellence- Chandigarh.  The workshop, titled ‘Inclusive Education’ was an important step towards creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the different needs of all students. As many as 60 teachers from CBSE schools of Patiala, Rajpura, Patran, Kakrala, Nabha, Narwana, Kadial and Ghagga participated in the event.

Eminent educators Ms Harpreet Kaur, Principal, Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh and Ms Sangeeta Sharma, Principal O P Bansal Sr. Sec School, Mandi Gobindgarh acted as the Resource persons. The programme began with paying obeisance to Goddess Saraswati with Lighting of Lamp ceremony. The resource persons engaged the participants in discussions that ranged from understanding the principles of inclusive education to implementing effective teaching methods that cater to various learning styles and abilities.

The attendees actively participated in hands-on activities that focussed on practical techniques for adapting teaching methodologies and creating accessible materials. The participants made presentation in the group mentioned as below- Group 1- Locomotor Disability, Group 2- Cerebral Palsy, Group 3 Muscular Dystrophy, Group 4 Visual Impairment, Group 5- Hearing Impairment, Group 6- Intellectual Disability, Group 7- Specific Learning Disability And Group 8- Autism Spectrum Disorder, Group 9-Mental Illness, Group 10- Chronic Neurological Conditions, Group 11- Blood Disorders And Group 12- Multiple Disabilities

Principal Vivek Tiwari applauded the resource persons for their valuable contribution. While addressing the august gathering of intellectuals he stated that Successful inclusive education happens primarily through accepting, understanding, and attending to student differences and diversity. He concluded by saying this diverse assembly of minds provided a rich space for exchanging perspectives, strategies, and best practices, thereby contributing to the overarching goal of making education accessible to every student, regardless of their background or abilities.

The CBE concluded with giving of mementoes to the resource persons as a symbol of gratitude for their unmatchable and valuable contribution.
