DAV Celebrates Baisakhi with Great Fervor

Singing of mellifluous hymns, beating of Dhol and foot tapping performance marked the exuberant celebration of Baisakhi at DAV Bhupindra Road,Patiala.
The celebration commenced with ritualistic welcome the Chief Guests Mrs & Mr Vivek Tiwari. Students dressed up as ‘Panj Pyara’ took out a religious procession while performing the martial art- Gatka sending a wave of verve and enthusiasm amongst the students. The whole arena was immersed in vibrating spirituality during the singing of pious ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’. As DAV is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, so following the mantra ‘Back to Roots’ an Inter-House ‘Dastar Bandi’ competition was organized for the students of Class IX-XII which was adjudged by S Jashanpreet Singh and S Simranjot Singh. Abhineet Singh Of X Lotus bagged the first position and Angadveer of XII & Sidakvir of XI won the second and third position respectively. Thereafter, Sanjampreet of Class IX highlighted the religious, cultural, historical importance of this auspicious occasion. Pranav Joshi & Maanpartap Singh of Class X enthralled everyone with their presentation of ‘Chandi Di Vaar’ which motivates us to tread the path of righteousness. The enthusiasm reached zenith when the tiny tots, in their vibrant attires, gave a mesmerizing performances on songs like ‘Raunak hoju ghat ve’, “Maarda Damame jatt mele aa gya’ and ‘Aayi Vaisakhi Sohneya’
In continuation of the religious fervor, 60 Students of DAV School, Patiala along with their teacher Ms. Rajneet Kaur participated in the religious venture of a mass recitation of path of Japji Sahib. This mega event was held at historical Gurudwara Shri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala on the auspicious occasion of 460th Birthday of 5th Guru of Sikhs- Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji. The event was graced by Prof Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala.
While graciously accepting the ‘Siropao’ presented to him, Principal Vivek Tiwari highlighted that celebration of Baisakhi is a way to commemorate the formation of Khalsa Sect of the warriors. He also motivated the students to follow the code of conduct to live by, led by the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He concluded by saying that Baisakhi is a moment of rejoicing for the vast agricultural society of Punjab so we should be grateful to the farmers for toiling hard and providing food to everyone.
