DAV Patiala grabs Top 20 Stories of Change at International Project – Design For Change
Design for Change (DFC) is a global and International movement that introduces experiential learning to students in schools and operates under a framework called Feel-Imagine-Do-Share (FIDS) that has been developed by the Riverside School in Ahmedabad, India. Under this framework, children are encouraged to Feel a problem that bothers them, imagine a way to make it better. Do something to make a change and Share their story of change with the world. The students are also ensured with empathetic learning, problem solving, confidence, life skills. While participating in this series, DAV Patiala took an environment concerning project, in order to sensitize with the soaring temperature , school team comprising Abhishek Bansal, Lovish Kakkar, Navtej Singh, Dhruv Garg, Vishav Sharma, under the guidance of their mentor Ms. Parminder Pal Kaur (science teacher) installed bottles in green color with saplings in them with the motive to control the temperature, mainly students of the school badly felt the repercussion of this problem. students felt uncomfortable during school, even the students were not able to concentrate on their studies, thus there was a drastic fall in participation of academics as well as in extra activities. The project was well appreciated at FIDS and captivated top 20 stories of change in “I can Festival”organized at Ahmedabad during 22.12.18 to 24.12.18 during which two team members Navtej Singh and Dhruv from class IX received the award from brand ambassador of the project Rahul Bose (Cine star and philanthropist)
Principal Vivek Tiwari while expressing his happiness on this achievement quoted that “It gives him utmost pleasure that school is not only rising new scales and heights in academics but at the same time by adopting project like DFC school is giving positive exposure to the students in building empathy”. He appreciated the toils taken by the team for the accomplishment and success on this mega venture.
