DAV marks Women’s Day by paying obeisance to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati

DAV Public School, Patiala marked the importance of “International Women’s Day” by paying obeisance to legendary saint Swami Dayanand Ji who worked tirelessly for the upliftment of women and by raising a strong voice against the discrimination prevailing in the society against them.

To commemorate his birth anniversary and highlighting his ideologies a pious Hawan Yajna was performed and final oblations were poured in with a vow to accomplish this year’s theme which is ‘to choose challenge and call out gender bias and inequality and celebrate the achievements of women’. The day was also significant for the school as Ms Anu Tiwari was awarded with Women Era award by Rashtriya Jyoti Kala Manch, whereas Ms. Dhanjeet Kaur (TGT English )was awarded with Influential woman award  and bestowed with the  title of ‘Prudent Writer’ by Imperial Glitz, Zirakpur. Ms Kuldeep Kaur (PRT) released her second  novel ‘Zehreli Dharti’ ,  hence further strengthening the zeal and verve of the day.

The melodious bhajans  - Doobto ko bacha lene wale …., suraj banker door kiya paapon ka ghor andhera …. presented by the staff members under the guidance of Ms. Rajneet Kaur (HOD Music) took everybody in tranquility and highlighted the distinction of Maharishi Dayanand Ji and women empowerment . Later to add more hues to the auspicious occasion a colourful program was organized during which many fun games were played by the staff members amidst the giggles.

Principal Vivek Tiwari on this auspicious day quoted that “International Women’s Day” should not only be the day to mark the significance of women, rather everyday should be celebrated as the day of their importance, empowerment. He further said that empowering women is the only way to protect their rights and make sure they can realize their full potential and a way to construct a different world. He also counted the contribution of Maharishi Dayanand and DAV institutions which has always played a pivotal role in safeguarding and upliftment of women in the society. Principal Vivek Tiwari further expressed his congratulations to all three awardees thus the program concluded with happiness and laughter
